The Archive Council

The Archive Council is an advisory and consultative body of the General Director of State Archives on matters within his/her competence.

It is composed of 15 members appointed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage on a motion of the General Director of State Archives in agreement with the Association of Polish Archivists. The Council’s works are supervised by its Chairman.

The Council’s status and methods of work are governed by the Act of 14 July 1983 on national archive resources and the Statute of the Head Office of State Archives (Ordinance No. 30 of the President of Council of Ministers of 9 April 2009).

On 11 January 2007 by the decision of the General Director of State Archives a Committee by the General Director of State Archives was appointed as an advisory and consultative body on matters regarding the state archives under his/her jurisdiction.
